Money Plant is native to Mo’orea in French Polynesia. It is also called Photos. The common names are- Golden Pothos, Ceylon Creeper, Ivy Arum, Silver Vine, Taro Vine, & Solomon Islands Ivy. So, first, let’s know the Care of Money Plant when it is potted
in Soil:
- Type of Soil: It requires well drain soil. We can mix sand with
normal soil to make it well drained.
- Watering: Watering of Money Plant have to do carefully. As it is a hardy plant, it can tolerate irregular watering. Under-watering is okay, it will not so harmful. But regular over-watering can deteriorate its growth and even it may cause root rot. So the best trick of watering is to water the plant, let the soil and then water once again.
- Sunlight: It can be grown in direct sunlight and does great in moderate bright indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight can cause sunburn and the beautiful leaves may become dull. So, a bright window or balcony is ideal for it.
- Fertilizer: Money likes nitrogen rich soil and fertilizer. So, make sure to mix organic compost or vermicompost with its potting media. I do not recommend any chemical fertilizer for Nitrogen, simply use vermicompost or organic kitchen waste compost once in a month.
Now let’s know the Care of Money Plant when it
is potted in Water:
When the money plant is growing directly in
water, it is really easy to care of.
- Make sure to clean the bottle or container where it is grown to get rid of moss every week.
- Do not miss to change the water every week.
- Keep the plant in bright window or balcony.
- Frequently add water in the container to maintain water level.
- Do not add any fertilizer in the water. For growing in water, Money plant does not need any fertilizer.
So that is all. It is really easy to care of. You can also propagate it in water or in soil or in sand.
